High hopes for Tigers’ loyal fans

THE positivity surrounding Richmond Football Club isn’t exclusive to long suffering fans – everyone at the club is setting their sights high for 2014.

Defender Jake Batchelor spoke to the Wangaratta Chronicle this week and said the Tigers were in better shape to challenge for premiership glory this season than they had been in years.

“Regardless of what people are saying, we always have our own expectations within the club,” Batchelor said.

“We don’t let external views influence what we do.

“It’s important to have a good preseason, and as a club this is the best one we’ve had since Dimma (coach Damien Hardwick) has been here.

“Everyone seems to be doing PBs in the time trials, we haven’t got too many injuries at the moment – all in all we’re in a great position.

“You need to have a bit of luck, but our aim is to have a good start to the season and go from there.

“We want to make the finals again and we want to win finals – we all believe that’s a realistic aim.”

This should be the expectation but I just hope we don't get ahead of ourselves. We need to focus on player output and be ruthless with players who are not following the game plan and meeting key indicators. The attitude of the players needs to be confident and ruthless with every side particularly teams such as Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong, Freo and the Swans.

Reality check.
We made finals due to a favorable draw

Otherwise were a 9-  11 club.

Well according to everyone we have an even more favourable draw this year so we should pee it in....
