Tigers thrashed in Dreamtime clash
By Kristian Pisano

A disappointing Richmond has gone down to Essendon by 50 points, in front of 74,664 fans in the annual Dreamtime at the ‘G clash.

The Tigers were on the back foot early, conceding the first four goals, and they remained goalless throughout the first term.

Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin led a mini-charge in the second quarter through great individual efforts with goals, bringing the margin back to 14 points.

But the Bombers went on to kick eight of the next nine goals, to put the game beyond doubt at three-quarter time.

Brendon Goddard won the Yiooken Award with 30 disposals and 11 marks.

Dustin Martin was again one of the Tigers’ best, collecting 28 disposals and kicking two goals playing through the midfield and up forward.

Brandon Ellis also continued his good form with 26 disposals, seven rebound 50s and six inside 50s.

Jack Riewoldt wasn’t able to replicate his 11 goal performance from last week, but he presented all night and was rewarded with three late goals to go with 13 disposals and seven marks.

Richmond will take on North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium next Sunday night.
