Paul Armstrong on Club Corner (Sport927)
« on: July 19, 2005, 02:47:17 AM »
Paul Armstrong was on Club Corner last night:

* Gas - grade 1 hamstring strain (perhaps related to his back) - miss 2-3 weeks. Definitely 2.
* Cambo - will play this week.
* Simmonds - same as Cambo. We took him off as he was a bit sore. Will play.

* Pattison - twisted ankle. On crutches after game. May come up this week though.
* Limbach - strained ankle. On crutches as well. Won't play this week.

* Stafford will be back in the seniors this week.
* Foley and Schulz to come into calculation.

* Hit and run job this week. We fly over to Adelaide Saturday morning. Book into the hotel. Rest in the arvo before game. Play game. Fly home.

Hmmm bit busy this week - having to finalise my tax and everything.  Sounds like they need a good masseuse though.

Why doesn't Foley get a game?

Why doesn't Foley get a game?

He should be very close. 78 possessions for Coburg in the past 2 weeks.

Anybody know the motivation behind this? Do the players prefer to spend as little time as possible away from Melbourne, or is this purely financially driven?

Play game. Fly Home? I think he means play game, sleep over, fly home in the morning. The last plane leaves at 8.15pm. Unless the team is leaving the game early. ::)

Probably right PS.
I've heard they roll up the tarmac at 8.30 and everyone goes to bed.  8)

Blame me for that PS  :-[. Armstrong didn't mention when they would actually depart but he said it was going to be a "hit and run" mission so I wrongly presumed there was a midnight flight for Melbourne or thereabouts.

Getting onto Jake's question- I think (I could be wrong again lol) they do it so as to minimize the impact of travelling and the disruption it causes to our normal gameday routine.
