Tiger mad Brett ‘Trout’ Beattie takes to the Tigermobile each week to make the team bannerPeter Rolfe

August 29, 2014 THIS is the Tigermobile driving one of Richmond’s biggest fans.
Every week Richmond cheer squad member Brett "Trout’’ Beattie drives his classic yellow and black 1978 HZ Holden 308 from Woodend to the Punt Rd Oval to help make the team banner.
He makes the same two hour odd round trip every time the Tigers play at the MCG.
But this weekend he and his family will be keeping the classic car at home and flying to Sydney in the hope of seeing their team punctuate a stunning winning streak with an upset win against the flag favourite and passage to the AFL finals.
And he is flying to NSW fully confident his team will beat the Sydney Swans and scoop the last spot in the AFL finals.
"We can absolutely make the finals,’’ he said.
"Why not? We just need to win.’’
Beattie, 50, doesn’t care about naysayers who think Sydney will warm up for an assault on September glory with an easy win to spoil the party for his beloved Tigers.
Nor does he care for the opinions of betting agencies such as TAB which yesterday installed the Swans the raging $1.33 favourite to defeat Richmond and a $2.50 fancy for the flag.
Richmond was yesterday a $101 rank outsider to pull off the miracle of the season by qualifying for the finals and marching all the way to their first premiership since 1980.
But Mr Beattie said it was just a matter of time.
"Eight wins in a row - five to go,’’ he said.
