It talks about Shannon Grant and Fevola being traded, yet i noticed something interesting towards the bottom, that might have to do with us.

As reported exclusively in The Australian last week, Carlton has lost patience with Fevola and is prepared to trade the 24-year-old.

he was re-signed several months ago for three years, but his form tapered off dramatically over the final two months of the season.

In return, the Blues, who already have selections one and four in the national draft, want another pick under eight.

Hawthorn has said it is not interested in giving up either of its first two picks, three and six, for Fevola.

To secure Fevola, the Saints would have to buy into an early draft pick and on-trade it to Carlton.

Would we be willing to give up our 8th pick for a saints player?

The article then mentions Goddard, and i definetly wouldn't give up the 8th pick for him.

I'd love to have Kozi, but doubt the saints would trade him, and his injury history is worrying.

I agree there is no way the saints would trade Kosi. Despite having won the rising star, I really thought this was his breakout year.

I can't think of too many who we would interested in and the saints would be willing to part with for Fevola. The closest I can get is S. Fisher, a KP defender, but he is rated highly by them as well.

The Saints would want more than just pick 8 for Kosi. Agree with Jake that 2005 was his breakout year.

Apart from Marc Murphy there are hardly any standouts so we may still get a good kid even a good KPP prospect at pick 8 as the sides below us will be chasing after young midfielders. These poorer drafts are where recruiters earn their reputation and money. Let's draft smartly and develop our own top young players.

If trading pick 8 + a expendable player got us a top 5 pick then I might consider it. I would prefer trading a expendable player(s) for another first round pick ;).

The AFL taking away Carlton's number one pick probably did the Blues a favour in stopping them wasting it on Goddard  ;D
