If you were TW or GM how would you use our 4th pick
« on: October 02, 2005, 10:50:57 AM »
IMO we should draft Lukas Markovic with our 4th pick (although he doesn't seem to be listed on footydraft.com). Simply because he is a tall key-position player who played predominantly at CHB in the TAC Cup, plus he showed his versatility when moved to FF late in the season (i think he kicked about 15-16 goals in 3-4 games) before injurying himself. Jace Bode was an All Australian U18 winger this year. Heath Hocking seems to be popular in this forum. And Ryan Anderson presents himself as an exciting skilled and fast midfielder.

I think we will  take the most popular player in every draft- Pass. Although if we had a 4th pick i would go for a smokie who i really like from junior footy and he hasnt been noted in any phantom draft i dont think- Matthew Long.

If we don't pass - which I expect will probably will and saveit for the PSD - I wouldn't be surprised if they used it Michael Rix from Coburg if he still available.

I doubt that we will use a 4th round pick on a kid - I see it being used on a recycled player or a mature aged bloke

I think we will pass also. The 2006 draft is meant to be a extremely strong one so giving speculative types 2 year contracts will only inhibit our choices for next year. I also hope we don't use it on Rix. I'm not a fan but he should be picked up in the PSD at best. Remember we used a late pick on Morrison in the 2003 draft and we're stuck with him for 2 years.

I think if we pick a mature aged player we don't actually have to give them a two year contract.

We gave Morrison a 2 year contract because the RFC are such good blokes.

Blame Spud the Dud for that one  :banghead.

these threads a re ok for a discussion but i find them pointless bec there are 15 other clubs who will pick players so u just dont know who is available.

imho, we should use pick 8 and possibly pick 24 only. we have plaenty of youth and as its stated next yrs crop is better, we should use this trade period to trade guys like tivm chaff, hall etc, guys who really dont cut the mustard for better 22-27 yo players who can add to our group not hinder it.

tw and miller have said many times that we have a big core of youth but not experience.
we really dont need this trade to pick up more young talent , thats what next yr can be used 4.

thus we should concentrate on trading 4 better players , without getting rid of any kids just hacks
