Costs of taking your kids to the footy: Richmond Tigers best value

THE average cost to parents of taking two children to the footy in Melbourne this season soared beyond $100.

And while Richmond may have fallen in the first week of the finals again this year, at least the experience came cheap for long-suffering fans. A review of the cost of attending AFL matches in Melbourne found the Tigers provided the best value for families.

The average cost of cheering them on at the MCG or Etihad Stadium for two adults and two children was $95.46.

But the cost of watching North Melbourne, which plays home games at Etihad Stadium, was $114.68 — more than any other Victorian club.
