Give the guys a break.

As Ox said, he has been offered a fair bit less than he was on before and all he is doing is trying to negotiate something a little better.

We should not be offended or crack it when he asked the club to see if there was any interest for a possible trade.

When the club wants to offer a player for trade they do, its all a business.

I also dont believe that he should be getting the same and he does still have to prove himself, hopefully he signs up and shows us what he can do. I think he suits the Wallace run and carry game plan.

Richmond onballer David Rodan has agreed to a new deal with the Tigers, after earlier considering a change of AFL clubs.

Rodan, 22, who missed the entire 2005 season after rupturing a knee ligament in a pre-season practice match, has agreed to a two-year performance-based contract.

He had earlier been unhappy with a one-year deal offered by the club and asked the Tigers on the eve of the AFL's trade week earlier this month to sound out other clubs about a possible switch.

His manager Angie Papadopolous said Rodan's first choice had always been to stay with Richmond, but he had wanted to be certain about his future at Tigerland.

"It was just more about the security of what he was doing," Papadopolous said.

"He was never in question to be traded, there was a lot of clubs interested.

"It was just a matter of going through the process, both him and the club are happy."

The new contract was expected to be signed early next week.

Rodan, officially the AFL's shortest man at 171cm, equal to West Coast goalsneak Phil Matera, was recruited by the Tigers at pick 33 in the 2001 national draft.

The Fijian-born youngster had previously won two Morrish Medals as the best player in the Victorian under-18 competition, but was considered something of a punt at AFL level because of his size.

However, he played all 22 games in each of his first two seasons with the Tigers, 2002-03, and 16 in 2004, before having this season destroyed by injury.

I personally believe he will thrive under the Wallace gameplan, however i'm worried that his injury will cause him to lose speed and agility, which is basically what gets him past his height deficiency, and also is he complacent with his current skill level, does he want to improve or did all those walk up starts under Frawley make him complacent, like it did with Fiora and Krakeour?

His skill level would improve if he didn't run so far carrying the ball all the time missing out on options instead of going with the first option and passing to an open teammate.

I agree Razor the big question is how his knee injury has affected his speed and agility. I guess we'll know the answer by the time of the intra-club game in Feb.

You forgot to mention small build, slow and not agile (compared to Rodan, but he is slow anyway) and the fact that white man cant jump!
