Brett Deledio is ready to get going

Brett Deledio is ready to make his first appearance for the year in Richmond's final preseason hit-out against Port Adelaide this week.

The Tigers' vice-captain has managed an Achilles injury throughout summer, but has increased his training load in recent weeks and will likely play against the Power.

He is set to be joined by Shaun Hampson, who has worked his way back from ankle surgery at the end of last season, with Ty Vickery also ready to resume after overcoming a concussion.

Richmond will head into their final preseason game carrying an almost non-existent injury list, with Chris Yarran building some strong training form in the last week having overcome some calf issues.

Nathan Drummond, who tore an ACL in his knee playing his debut senior game last year, is close to rejoining the main training group and inching closer to a comeback.

Deledio has managed his injury with the ultimate plan of being ready to play at the start of the season, and football manager Dan Richardson expected he would line up this week.

"He's been good," he said. "He trained well yesterday, so provided all goes as planned I think we'll see him this week."

Vickery has undergone a number of check-ups since he was strangely concussed during the Tigers' opening NAB Challenge game three weeks ago, and has trained well since.

The forward leapt for a mark when the ball was almost 100 metres away, with the Tigers believing he may have been knocked during the warm-up and again early in the game against Fremantle.

"He's been training. He should be available to play. He's likely to be," said Richardson.

"There might be one more test to go. But he was back training last week, he's trained right through and he seems to have recovered well."

Only seven Tigers have not been used in the first two NAB Challenge matches, and of those seven, vice-captain Brett Deledio and ruckman Shaun Hampson are expected to return for Thursday night's clash against Port Adelaide.

Nathan Drummond, who is returning from a knee reconstruction, and Reece McKenzie are on modified programs and not available for selection.

Meanwhile key position players Todd Elton and Liam McBean are in line to play VFL practice games ahead of round one.

WOOT! Up for selection we have 2 players. One is a 2x All Australian, 2x best and fairest, RFC life member who is lauded for his flexibility in being able to play defense, midfield, and forward and be able to set up plays and provide the team with electrifying pace and an avenue for multiple goals. The other is Shaun Hampson.

McKenzie what kind of modified program?

Drummond I can understand for his knee.

Would like to see the others play though (McBean, Elton, Hampson, C. Moore, Lids) - lots of tall options that would be good to assess...
