RAISING money for charity has never smelled like this before. Players from Richmond Football Club will sell their old footy socks and training gear to raise funds for the Very Special Kids Centre at A Fair to Remember today.
Former Tigers captain and football legend Dale Weightman said the fundraising is on the nose for all the right reasons.
"We don't just want to raise money, we want our players to be actively involved with the kids," Weightman said.
"It is important for our players to know how lucky they are. It teaches them to grow as a person."
And the players readily give their time to help the children.
Midfielder David Rodan has been actively involved with Very Special Kids since 2003 when he and six teammates built a playground for the centre.
The ninth annual A Fair to Remember is on today at 321 Glenferrie Rd, Malvern, from 9am to 4pm. Entry is free.
