Beetham Robertson should be on Hit List
« on: December 03, 2005, 10:40:34 AM »
IMHO ... Caydn Beetham and Sam Robertson should be seriously looked at as pick ups over the next month. I dont necessarily support taking a PSD pick but if we do take one...Id be inclined to take Beetham... and look to take Sam Robertson in the Rookie Draft. Robertson is about 194cm ... primarily played on a wing throughout his junior days...I can see Sam becoming a full back if he can put on some weight. Beetham would add to our growing list of runners in our midfield.

Is Beetham training with an AFL club? I haven't heard anything about him since the paper said a few weeks ago he was nominating for the draft ???.

Robertson only weighs 75kg (193cm tall) according Vic Metro squad list for the U18 champs so he'll need plenty of time in the gym before holding down FB/HBF position at AFL level. Looks as though he did play both ends at school footy for St Benards but in the TAC cup wing/HBF. He didn't seem have trouble finding the footy either for Calder: Sam Robertson 2005 stats. I don't know anything else about him (athletic ability?) apart from him being at the AIS at the same time as Lids.

Limbach (192cm) was 71kg in his last TAC season, was about 76kg when drafted!

Warnock (204cm) was only 77kg this year!  :o :o

Mate I am no ligtweight, but I can not beleive how light on some of these guys are - spose it's part of the way the game is going for better or worse. ??? Should be made to finish each training session with a large deep pan pizza until they bulk up a bit. I mean I aint little 100 ks 188 cm but these guys when you see them in real life you just wonder how they get out there. I spose they are fast enough so guys my size cant clean em up.  :lol

Warnock (204cm) was only 77kg this year!   Mate that is just effen skinny - Stick Man

Yeah his very lanky!

A mate of mine who lives just down the read is about 200cm and only 80kg, and from what i have seen he eats like a pig yet remains very lanky and skinny, especially in the arms!

Until middle age hits lol.

-------------------

Just on another young tall (ruckman) and Calder Cannon, do any of you guys rate Angus Graham worthy of a spot on our rookie list?

He's 197cm and weighs 91kg so he's no twig.

Angus Graham
Details:
Club: Tasmania/Assumption College/Calder
DOB: 16 April 1987 Hgt: 197cm Wgt: 91kg
Position: Ruck/Forward
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
Tasmanian U18 2005
AFL Draft Camp 2005

Statistics:
2005 TAC Cup: 1 game, 0 goals, average 5.0 PPG
2005 Under 18 Championships: 3 games, 0 goals, average 10.3 PPG

Draft Camp:
Height: 200.3cm (3rd)
Mass: 92.6kg (4th)
Vertical Jump: 65cm (equal 10th)

Background:
Played a lot of footy this year and looked pretty tired towards the end of the season. With school footy for Assumption College, TAC for Calder and State footy for Tasmania, Graham had a busy season. Still quite a raw player, Graham has plenty to learn, but at the same time has a lot to work with.

Strengths:
- Raw/Continually improving
- For a big bloke he uses it well enough by foot and is clean at ground level
- Will back back to mark/courage, but sometimes needs to improve marking efforts

Weaknesses:
- Strength
- Endurance

Footy Draft verdict:
Maybe around the place for a late draft pick. On the learning approach still and could be a good developing ruck or key position prospect.

Classic "raw ruckmen taken in the rookie draft" prospect.

I don't know much about this guy, but all i know is we need to take a raw/development ruckmen in the rookie draft.

Cheers Razor.

Just as an aside Box Hill boys Alistair Neville and Cam Howat are apparently still training with us.
