June 26, 2016 12:43 PMRICHMOND ruckman Shaun Hampson is confident he will be fit to face Port Adelaide on Friday night.
The 28-year-old was forced from the field in the final three minutes of Saturday's win over the Brisbane Lions at the MCG after landing awkwardly on his right knee.
Hampson told AFL.com.au he was unlikely to need a scan on his knee, and was optimistic about his chances of playing the Power in six days' time.
"It's not too bad," Hampson said on Sunday morning.
"I just stirred up an existing injury, so it won't be an issue, I don't think.
"I just landed a bit awkwardly and stirred the medial up. The short break doesn’t help, but I think I'll be good."
The former Blue has been in career-best form, cementing himself as Richmond's number one ruckman over the past two months.
Out-of-favour ruckman Ivan Maric will play in the VFL on Sunday, and would be the favourite to replace Hampson should he not recover in time for the trip to Adelaide Oval.
