THE Tigers can make the finals next year, but it will take some bold, but shrewd off-season moves, The SuperFooty Podcast’s Mick Warner says.

“I reckon they could play finals next year if they have a massive shrewd off-season,” Mick said of the Tigers.

“I don't think it’s like Brisbane Lions who wont play finals for five years.

He said they had good top-enders, good kids and a great facility “they just need to mix it up”.

“There’s something rotten in the joint,” he said about Tigerland.

“Would it be harsh to say the next four weeks decide Dimma’s fate? Or has it already been decided?

Sam Edmund asked whether they should keep their first round pick or trade it the Gold Coast for Dion Prestia and the boys wondered if the Tigers should trade favourite son Brett Deledio?

The Tigers have 16 players out of contract and Sam said that’s a blessing.

“All these so-called list cloggers and players who aren’t going to take you to your next premiership have just got to go,” he said.

“Richmond down the years have been far too loyal, slow, patient, trusting.”

“Get em out, get new faces in.”

At least Prestia has size, despite being short.

Agreed though - we need to target big mids in both the draft and trade/FA period. Kids like Petracca for example who were probably AFL ready at 16-17 lol

If Michael Barlow's injury issues aren't career threatening would you consider picking him up for 2-3 years? Turns 29 at the end of this year.

Yeah offer 70 and if it doesn't come up our way then sign him as delisted free agent. If someone swoops in and grabs him who cares we don't need to be caught up in bidding wars over a player like him

lets see whose likely to be available around pick 4-6 before making a call on whether we should trade it for prestia.

My first gut instinct is no way, forget about all trades and just cut deep and go hard in 2 drafts in a row then take stock from there. Having said thsat I really want patton so Im just a hypocrite

Can see the hesitation, but at least we know Prestia is a proven player and is still young - turns 24 after this season, so has at least 7-9 years in him barring serious injuries.

Knowing our current development record there's certainly no guarantee we'd make a go of a good pick.

So IMO if the player is young enough (over 5 years left in career) and is a top shelf player then I'm happy to trade first round picks all day.
