Fortunately Bill had the sense to relegate himself to the Glenelg Football Club for 3 years (55-57) whereupon he won the best and fairest in his first year, won the Advertiser (or was it the News) Player of the Year and was even favourite for the Magarey, but came 3rd. He later returned to the RFC (coached my uncle in the 19s) and was on the committee a while (incl. for 67).

Not sure whether I ever "met" him as he died when I was 2 or 3. I obviously didn't see him play but my father, grandparents etc were regulars in the members at Punt Rd to see cousin Bill-O do his thing - which also means they saw JD and old Mopsy himself. (When I ask dad what mopsy was like he just says something like "Yeah, Mopsy, mmmm, dear me, Mopsy, mmm, bit of an anger problem".)

He sure had it right about Mopsy. A brilliant footballer with a very short fuse
