Summary

* Would have Bolton at his club as he knows him personally. So expects Bolton to get a (assistant coach) gig. Mind you Dimma didn't say it would be at Richmond.

* Sheds, Dusty, Jack & Cotch are the only survivors from Dimma's first ever side (R1, 2010).

* Credit goes to the people around you at a football - Peggy, Benny, etc. While the focus is on the senior coach on days like today, you can't achieve anything without these people.

* Graham probably available this week.

* Jack back straight after the bye.

* Positive is the young talent coming through. Got guys in the VFL in good form. 34-35 players to select from at the moment.

* Disappointing on the weekend but North were good.

* Rance is running and doing agility work at training. Still has swelling in his knee but we'll give him every chance.

* Rioli hasn't been at the level he usually is. Butler's form at VFL level was too good to overlook so Rioli made way. Rioli getting back closer to that level on the weekend so he'll be considered. We need him at his best as it makes our team better.

* Dimma's 2016 downer was different to Bolton as we had played finals 3 years in a row before that year. Dimma said he also had the support of Peggy and we knew we could turn it around quickly the following year.

* We would like clarity about Match Review decisions but we don't ask as it usually leads to even more confusion (laughs).

* Why was Dusty taken off 3 mins before half time after kicking 3 goals?
Dimma couldn't remember that and would've told Dusty to stay on. It's really up to the player and Dusty might have been on the ground longer than he should've. Sometimes keeping a player on for an extra 2 minutes can come back to bite you.

* 666 rule moves the density from the centre to the ends. Not really an issue. What has changed for us is the kick-in rule.

* Giving Sydney Stack a spray at training?
Stack was late twice that morning and it was due to changing his boots. Funny thing is next week he was 5 mins early. He's not short in coming forward. Dimma rang Syd later that day to apologise for the way he spoke to him and Dimma said Syd told him no worries and "Was that the best spray you've got?" lol.

* Cotch leads both on and off the field. An on-field coach too. He's driven our club forward and Dimma classed him as the No.1 captain he's known.

* The North game was our worst tackling performance in 3-4 years. We couldn't punish North for their mistakes. North were too good.

:gobdrop He was rubbish on Saturday. Did nothing to warrant a recall.
The club that keeps giving.

He isn’t going to bag Rioli

He is out of form and was gifted the Dreamtime game due to the jumper, photos after the game when he had his jumper off show he is still wearing padding on his ribs. Could have a crack or bad bruising, we all know his defensive pressure is great for us but he clearly hasn’t got the confidence to use his body to tackle currently.

They are just keeping him match fit in the two’s and he is playing outside to avoid contact

Jackstar is back!!!

Richmond keeps door ajar for Bolton to stay within AFL circles

June 4, 2019 1:22pm
Fox Sports

Brendon Bolton may have lost his position as Carlton’s senior coach.

But he already has another job offer — that is, if he’s keen to return to life as an assistant.

Richmond premiership coach Damien Hardwick has left the door ajar for Bolton to work alongside him at Punt Road Oval, saying he’s a “fantastic coach”.

“I thought the class with which he ended his relationship with Carlton was typical of Bolts,” Hardwick told Talking Footy.

“I know, from my own point of view, he walks into my club any day of the week.

“He’s a fantastic coach, fantastic character and I think he’ll find himself within the AFL circles pretty quickly.”

Bolton was shown the door after Carlton slumped to its tenth loss of the season on Sunday, almost four years after he was appointed as the club’s coach.

With an overall winning percentage of just 20.8 per cent, Hardwick acknowledged Bolton’s position had become untenable.

But Hardwick didn’t think Bolton’s predicament was comparable to the situation he found himself in in 2016 when he was under immense pressure to keep his job.

“It is an outcome based industry. We understand that,” Hardwick said.

“And probably in fairness my position was a little bit different to bolts. We’d made finals the previous three years. We had probably some runs on the board. We sort of knew we weren’t as bad as 2016, the season it was.”

Richmond has matches against Geelong and Adelaide before its much needed bye, with the likes of Jack Riewoldt (PCL), Jayden Short (elbow), Toby Nankervis (adductor), Kane Lambert (Achilles) and Jack Ross (ankle) all expected to return in the second half of the season.

Hardwick said there was also a “small chance” five-time All-Australian defender Alex Rance (ACL) could feature later in the year.

“I saw him running today and he’s just such an impressive human,” he said.

“He’s running and doing some agility type movements. I’m astounded at how well he heals.

“He’s still got a little bit of swelling in that knee. But in fairness we’ll give him the chance he deserves.”
