The Tiger chief and the Bad SeedPeter Ryan

14 Aug 2019Ellis' band Dirty Three are also Melbourne music icons having begun their career at the Baker's Arms in the heart of Richmond in the early '90s before taking their music to the world.
Gale's experience became even better when Northey informed him that Ellis was joining him at the MCG president's lunch on Sunday to watch the Tigers as his plus one with the pair - who were both raised in Ballarat - sitting near the Gales at the 'G as the Tigers took another step forward against Carlton.
Snapshot understands Gale couldn't resist quipping to Northey, when he told him Ellis was coming to the footy, that he was welcome to bring the other bloke too but Cave - who is a favourite son of Warracknabeal where he grew up - had other matters to attend to on the Sunday.
We understand Ellis, who now lives in France, has never had a team but has pledged to become a rusted on Tiger with Northey sure to be a good source of information around Alex Rance's knee and Dusty's Brownlow chances although given Dirty Three's most recent album in 2012 was called Toward the Low Sun we suspect the band was all over the prospect of Tom Lynch becoming a Tiger at some point.
And we know Gale is a serious music fan having been spotted at gigs back in his playing heyday that weren't the standard fare for AFL players.
