RICHMOND is confident star forward Nathan Brown will play against West Coast on Saturday night.
Brown, recovering from a horrific broken right leg, pulled up sore after the opening round.
He had treatment on his lower right leg during Friday's match against St Kilda, in which he played 95 minutes of 114 minutes of game time.
Brown had much less impact (six kicks and four handballs and scored only two points) than in the opening round.
But football manager Paul Armstrong said yesterday Brown's performance against St Kilda had more to do with playing as a permanent forward, as opposed to a loose man across half-back against the Bulldogs.
Armstrong said Brown had come through the Saints encounter in much better shape.
"He's come through much better than last week and is not as sore," Armstrong said. "He was running on the treadmill this morning and he's confident he'll be right this week.
"We've got an extra day because we don't play until the Saturday next week."
Armstrong said there was no thought of Brown being rested this week because of the travel time involved flying to Perth.
"If he's right to play, he'll play," he said.
