Well done Bachar?

BT any comments?
That side is laughable!
I thought the year Bellis was in the 40 man squad was a joke, this certainly beats that by a long long way.

Just goes to show the “judges” don’t watch all the games and go off stats sheets for judgment.

How does a guy who basically plays opponents off a ski rope make the AA team as a defender.

What I do know is if they played a game against someone Houli would definitely do the kick ins and his opponent would have a field day.

Imagine Houli playing on the HFF of the side in Danderfield or Walters??... Wowee!!

Thank god Ablett didn't get in.

Hawkins shouldn't be in, was McGovern even that good this year?

I totally agree on all points

Hawkins lol that fat ass beefcake MF. What a joke.

Should make my own AA side but exclude every player in this team. Could give it a run for it's money.

Well done Grimes and Houli.

What’s laughable is that the all Australian side has just been named and with 2 players from Richmond making it and instead of feeling pride that 2 players from the club you support earning a spot you go on a rant about why 1 doesn’t deserve to be there.

Criteria/rules really do need to be changed - either make it strictly best in each position, like it should be, or do away with the whole "team" concept and just name the 22 best players of the year in alphabetical order..... :shh

Hawkins ahead of Lynch and even Brown was laughable... :shh :shh

Suspect Martin's mediocre first half of the season cost him.(just ike Hawkins' mediocre second half should have seen him excluded as well)..still looking forward to him making the selectors look very stupid next month..not that anyone will care or remember this Mickey Mouse crap by then... :shh :shh :shh

I don’t confess to see every game every week but some of the players picked are a joke.
And it makes a mockery of the whole thing!

But what I can say after watching every game that Houli played is his season was no where good enough for AA selection IMO. Not even close.

AND IN MY OPINION MEANS ITS MY OPINION.
So if you think differently, fair enough, but something tells me there is more to it for you than that.

After such a great AA season why do you think the club haven’t signed him yet?

Don’t know what you are trying to imply. A player for the team I support has just been recognised by the league for his great season and just like for grimesy I am very happy for him.

Regarding his contract, it’s probably the same reason they haven’t signed Edwards yet. Both over 30, playing great footy and stalwarts of the club. All parties know they’ll be at the RFC next year so no need to prioritise it over younger players.

The guy was literally just named in the all Australian team recognising that he has performed the best in his position across the competition and this angers you because it doesn’t fit your narrative that he is an average footballer that is easily replaceable. I mean I don’t even see rival supporters questioning or complaining about his selection which should tell you something.

Just let it go, he plays for Richmond and plays well. Try showing a bit of support.

I’m surprised lachie Whitfield wasn’t named at half back. I know he’s moved between half forward and half back this year but half back is easily his best position. For the role of half back flanker I think Houli has done an exceptional job. I feel like AA is given to people who have historically been decent also and my other guess is it’s a nod to how good houli was in the grand final

A very subjective opinion based team but all players who made the team and squad are worthy and great footballers.
Congratulations to all those who made it, what an honor it is.

Whitfield missed too many matches, nearly a third of the season.. :shh

If by “support” you mean overlooking Houli’s major deficiencies, than no I won’t. It will cost us a game one day and I just hope it’s not this year.

Houli is a really hard worker and by the looks of it a very liked teammate and person for that matter but that doesn’t mean he is a good defender which is how I actually grade defenders first and foremost.

You can, like Hurn from West Coast, be a really tight defender and also provide run and carry from the back half. Obviously you rate Houli on his run and carry only and don’t think he needs to be that accountable.

If you were picking the AA side this year, who gets a gig, Houli or Vlastuin?
Both play FB/BP in a “team defence,” both are good kicks of the footy, both have decent pace, one is hard and accountable, one is a really great intercept mark, both can kick out from full back, and both are Tigers.
(Anyone can answer that question)

Is it ok going forward if I don’t rate Houli as a backman regardless if he plays for us, if acknowledge you do rate him?
Im sure there is others we disagree on too.

I don’t want to flood another thread with a houli debate.

Ok to be critical of any player, but just think you take it over the top with Houli and don’t think it’s necessary to do it straight after he’s accomplished something great representing the RFC.

So let’s just leave it at that.

Didn’t Deledio make the bench just from playing half of 2014? Also Gaff missed 4 games in the H&A and broke some kids jaw but still got the nod.

Anyway it’s not an easy task to get a best 22 in the league. I’m a skinny half back flanker type person so I have a soft spot for Whitfield who is an absolute jet

Lids played 18 games that year and jagged 27 goals playing a bit more HF.
