Club Corner - April 24
« on: April 24, 2006, 11:23:26 PM »
Paul Armstrong

* Productive discussion with Browny, his manager, coaching and medical staff today.

* He was fine during preseason but the more intensive nature of the real stuff is making it sorer.

* May be a week or a month. When the pain is managed, he'll put his hand up. Pain inhibits the muscles to work properly at the level needed for AFL.

* It's a Catch 22 scenario  - lateral and twisting movements when he is forward of the ball cause pain but if we played him behind the ball and let him run in straight lines he'd be more involved in the play so the more work involved would also cause more pain.

* Won't play this weekend at any level. Then it's how he responds to training. It could be 2 weeks or 6 weeks. Then he'll work his way back through Coburg. He pulled up well at training last Wednesday. By Friday did a test and he wasn't right to play.

* Guys who play tomorrow for Coburg won't play Friday. Hughes, Knobel who both play with Coburg reserves and Krakouer also Chaffey are available. Squad of 28-29 available.

* Been reasonable competitive. About 3 bad quarters. Bullies second half and 3rd quarter against the Eagles. Most of the guys are in good form so they are fairly confident.

* Southern stand changerooms becuase we can add a Richmond touch to them. Couldn't do that with the new Northern stand rooms. Thursday the players will have a familiarisation session at the 'G.

Surprise surpise they are taking calls after a win :rollin.

Next week's show with Paul Gough they're taking talkback calls.

Rodan on club corner

* D-Rod didn't say much apart from the usual everyone played well and we're looking forward to Friday night. Mentioned Raines a big improver as well as Thursfield before he did his knee. Talked a little bit about Browny in relation to coming back from a long-term injury like he had to go through.

*  Has worked on two-way running which has helped him push back into defence (played on Voss for a while on Sat. Night).

Tommy Hafey on soon.

Tommy Hafey

* Talked about the rivalry with the Blues. Tommy said if Carlton hadn't been around we might have won 7 flags b/w 1967-74.

* Tommy loves the way the Doggies play with their run and confidence. Said he still reckons that's the way the game should be played.

Isn't Tommy great to listen to  :thumbsup.
