Rate a Tiger's year - Shane Edwards?
« on: November 12, 2020, 02:36:31 AM »
Next up is Sheds.

Edwards was affected by the covid restrictions on families and the 2020 AFL season arguably longer than any other Tiger. He played in our first 5 matches before the team was forced into a hub up in Queensland. Remaining in Melbourne to await the birth of his child, Shane missed the next 11 games and only made it up to the hub on the last chartered flight available. He trained with Gary Ablett and Daniel Hannebery while in 14-day quarantine and only returned to senior footy in time for our last H/A game against Adelaide. Edwards though didn't miss a beat, starring in our Semi-Final win over St Kilda and the Grand Final against Geelong to become a triple premiership Tiger.

Gave him a 9 despite his shorter season

Think he proved how important e is to our side when he came back. Sensational

Truly elite!

9/10.

Killed it when he was in the team, and he only missed games for good reasons.

We miss him desperately when he's out. And he absolutely slayed clearances in the finals.

Elite elite elite.

An all time great of our club
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I gave him a 10. He had immediate impact the second he walked onto the ground. His class was evident and was out of control in finals.

Played at an elite level whenever he wore the yellow and black this year so can’t fault him for his performances

The reason we are so good is the number of players with freakish ability. This is personified by Titch. He sees plays, and executes them, that most others can’t see and even if they did they couldn’t do them. The quickest hands ever I reckon. We also have Dusty and Shai who are freaks. The others, all pretty good, make the team with their grunt and skill but these 3 are the difference.
