Could Richmond look to pry Blues youngster Paddy Dow at the end of next season?
The 21-year old was restricted to just three senior games in 2020, with a knee injury hampering his season.
Dow was taken with Pick 3 in the 2017 AFL draft and played 39 games over his first two seasons but has struggled to make an impact in the David Teague era.
Contracted at the Blues until the end of 2022, Dow’s brother, Thomson, plays for the Tigers.
Discussing potential trades to watch in 2021 on AFL Media’s AFL Exchange podcast, Cal Twomey floated a Dow-to-Richmond move.
“I’m going to throw this one out there, Paddy Dow to Richmond,” Twomey said.
“This is based on no insight, by the way, I’m just sort of throwing this one out there.
“Big year for Paddy next year, (he’s) contracted until the end of 2022, so he has two more years to go on his deal with the Blues.
“But he’s been in and out, and mainly out of the side since David Teague took over. He’s had his injuries and is obviously a No. 3 pick from 2017.
“Would the Tigers have a look at him? His brother Thomson’s there, he’d probably come pretty cheaply if it’s another year like the past couple.
“He plays in that Richmond way where it’s not all about the quality of the kick, it’s just about getting the kick forward and getting the ball going forward.
“And there’s a bit of power there to him, so he’s one I want to put on the radar.”
