Just wanted to get an idea about what people think of fancy dress parties?

i am thinking about having one for my 30th later this year, i am keen to do it but not sure if the idea may turn some people off coming as they dont want to get into the theme of the night.

Thoughts please  ;D  :cheers

Great if everyone gets dressed up.  I went to a 60's 40th Birthday last year - it was karaoke as well.  Great night. :thumbsup  Just don't make it too hard a theme, eg beach theme in winter (??!!) or something where people have to spend too much money.  Some suggestions:  60's, 70's, 80's, country & western, space, certain colours ....

I hate fancy dress - a colour theme might be the best go.
Julz, every picture i see you in you're dressed up in fancy dress.  Our party girl here would have the best advice, Bully lol

A going away party I went to late last year in North Carlton was fancy dress and the theme was "what I want to be when I grow up". I still had a white coat from my undergrad days so I bought a toy stethoscope for $2 and went as a doctor.

I like the idea of a 70's party with a twist - dressing as you would if you were aged in your 70's. Go down St. Vinnies and get yourself sorted out... floral dresses, white shoes etc
