2016 Draft haul revisited (afl site)
« on: October 31, 2021, 06:11:31 AM »

2016 NAB AFL Draft: Shai Bolton (pick No.29), Jack Graham (53), Ryan Garthwaite (72)

AFL Pre-Season and Rookie Drafts: Tyson Stengle

Verdict:
A fairly small draft haul for the Tigers, but the first two selections should still have another 10 years at the club. Graham was part of the flag-winning side of 2017 in just his fifth game, played in the 2020 triumph, but missed 2019 with a heartbreaking preliminary final injury. Bolton had a slightly slower start to his career, but is also a two-time premiership star. His best work has been done forward of centre, but he has also shown glimpses of his ability in the middle of the ground, with his elusiveness and agility coming to the fore. Garthwaite was delisted at the end of the 2021 season, struggling to break into a tight-knit defence, but was a dependable performer at VFL level. At pick 72, it was hardly a bust selection. Stengle moved to Adelaide after two seasons in search of greater opportunities, given the Tigers' healthy small forward stocks. – Sarah Black

More than pretty good I would have thought. 4 premierships in that haul with earliest pick at 26.

Panned out very well when you consider we used pick 6 and a future second for Prestia  a 24 yo and pick 24 which we used on Caddy which has not been a great return imo, others do disagree with me on Caddy so lets just say its been an okay pick , we used 46 on Nankervis 22yo  as well.

We got Prestia, Caddy, Nankervis, Bolton, Graham
.

I would say at a guess in both the ND and rookie draft we have done very well when it comes to drafting smalls  going back to when Hardwick started but imo the haul has been very light on when it comes to mediums and talls and i reckon that shows in our list today when we talk about depth.

I agree , very good draft
Caddy has been a good pu imho and only became a so called dud was when he was reinvented as gut a running  wingman and lost confidence on top of other issues the club has said he was dealing with.
