I think these suggestions are fair enough.
The club has been flawless for so long, I must admit I was puzzled that we didn't go in for more midfield depth and experience. Dunston, a Greenwood, a Powell Pepper. Our depth is very very below average. And all it will take aid a few midfield injuries and we will really struggle again. Prestia going down is awfully challenging now.
All we need is both Lambert & Prestia out & our midfield falls apart. It's our #1 need this off season (along with a key fwd) unless some of our kids can step up.
Yep. The new rules have made clearance and ball winning mids a must as the turnover game we have relied on if less effective with the stupid stand rule.
If Balta is to eventually replace Jack as a key forward then even more ballwinning mids become our #1 need (still need another young key fwd as you say).
It's where finishing continually top 4 year after year eventually gets you. You don't get access to the A-grade mids via the draft or trade as you do when you're a bottom side: Cotch (pick #2), Dusty (#3), Prestia (trade #6; originally #9). Even if in the best case scenario RCD, Ross & Dow are able to greatly improve to become permanent members of our 22 they will solid B-graders at best. Not the core to build a future premiership around. Solid B-graders are instead added around the A-grade core. It's far harder and rarer to find these A-grade gems in the late first/2nd round year after year.
