Dimma's post-match on Ch 7:

* Good brand of footy. Richmond kind of game. Areas to improve but we were strong in all facets of the game.

* Got important pieces back tonight. First time Grimes and Floss played together this year. Balta and Baker going back. Short in the middle.

* MJR - performances in the VFL have grown and grown. Defensively very quick. Got some offensive reward too.

* Lynch - towered above. The Eagles had players out with no Barrass. Tom has been an enormous contributor for us on and off the field.

* Eagles have had a horrible horrible run. Simmo has done a wonderful job keeping them all together. We can only play who we play but we've got them at the right time. They'll be far much better later in the year. Next big test for us is Collingwood next week.

* Dusty - hopeful he plays next week. Needs to do a few more skill sessions. We need to do our due diligence.

‘We found pieces of the puzzle’: Hardwick says Tigers have more work to go

The Age
30 April 2022

Q: It is your biggest win in eight years statistically. How do you feel about how that win tonight?

It was good. The boys played a good brand of football. Looked like a Richmond game from the outset so we are pretty pleased with how it went. There are still coaching areas that we could improve. But I thought we were strong in all facets of the game tonight.

We went to work a little bit after a disappointing performance last week and we have got things we need to get better at. The boys did a good job at improving those this week.

Q: When you see a performance like that, does it remind you that this team has still got what it takes to do big things?

We had a couple of important pieces come into the side. It is the first game this year Dylan Grimes and Nick Vlastuin played together. We saw Noah Balta and Liam Baker going back. Jayden Short was terrific through the middle of the ground. We found pieces of the puzzle. We have been looking for a couple. Hopefully, we found one tonight.

Q: Tom Lynch got plenty of reward too, seven goals five. Probably could have hit the double digits. Great game.

He looked strong and tall. Ridiculous comment. He towered above. Obviously, they had some players out like Barrass, so we got an opportunity to try and exploit down there. I think he was terrific, his ability to jump at the ball and around the contest was great. In his 200th game, he has been an enormous contributor for us both on and off the field so it was good reward for him and his family.

Q: Your description was it was good. 109 points. Most would say it was more than good. Is that an understatement? Are you deliberately playing it down?

Listen, you have got to understand where our opponent tonight is. They have had a horrible, horrible run. Trying to train at the very highest level of sport, I feel, is tough. So they have had their challenges. So we can only play the opposition we are granted but I look at West Coast, and we are fortunate to play them now. The backend of the year they are going to get a hell of a lot better. Simmo has done a hell of a job to keep them up and about for this long. From our performance, we will get another test next week. Can we sustain it against an opposition such as Collingwood? We will wait and see.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick downplayed the victory despite the margin, insisting the Eagles were severely depleted.

"You have to understand where our opponent is at," he said.

"They have had a horrible, horrible run.

"But it was good. We played a good brand of footy; looked like a Richmond game. We were pretty strong on all facets in the game."

It was a 4 quarter win, and a very good one, but they were absolutely terrible.

Let’s see the next block of games before I start dancing on the ceiling, starting with the pies.

Its hard to know what to make of that, not much really.  Why bother papering over the cracks when you can build a whole new house!
It will never be that easy again, but I'll enjoy it for now!     :birthday
