Dome decision irks McGuire

02 July 2007   Herald-Sun

COLLINGWOOD president Eddie McGuire yesterday accused the AFL of under-estimating the drawing power of the Magpies and Hawthorn by scheduling the two clubs to play at Telstra Dome.

McGuire said Collingwood approached the league last month about switching the game to the larger MCG to maximise attendances, but was told it would not happen.

"It would be fair to say that maybe the AFL under-estimated the abilities of both our clubs," McGuire told a function before the game.

"The fact we're here today is an anomaly of the draw.

"It's the AFL's draw . . . sooner or later we have to play a game that is a twilight game and on (pay TV station) Foxtel, and we're happy to do so as part of what we do."

Like Archer didn't deserve to play his 300th at the G ::)  Collingwood gets the best draw and still they complain.  Maybe Eddie was trying to recup some losses after the Didak debarcle. :wallywink

If they had won he would not be complaining as much.
All a smokescreen to divert focus from
1. Didak
2. Failure to win a big game
3. Travis Cloke goalkicking
4. Whole Collingwood team goalkicking all year
5. The fact that they won't win the flag again this year
6. Buckley has Buckley's chance of playing again this season
7. The fact that all the players to come into their side from injury are perceived megastars
8. There is an after hours problem with Collingwood players
9. Most Collingwood supporters have the intellect of a canteloupe and rather than focus
on their on field issues and deficiencies another gripe from Eddie gives the fans hope in that it is an us against them mentality and therefore everything is fine and that they will eventually prevail. :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
10. They are all a bunch of manic depresive psychotic tossers.
