Being written-off yet again by many media experts works in the Tigers' favour, even if it’s false motivation, according to Richmond coach Terry Wallace.

“I was just doing a little calculation and I noticed that over the past month, The Age was 48-10 with their selections. 48 to the opposition, and 10 to us. The Herald Sun did a little worse than that, they were 92-8.

“If you’re looking for that false motivation, then we like to have a bit of fun with it. We had a bit of fun here last week, that’s why we put all those up (pointing to pages from the daily papers).

“Out of those four games, we won three of them. As I said it’s more a bit of amusement and fun than a motivation factor,” Wallace said.

“There’s been some very wealthy Richmond punters over the past month who had some very nice odds,” Wallace joked.

Richmond will probably find themselves at odds again with the tipsters when they take on Fremantle this Saturday night over at Subiaco.

According to Wallace, that’s fine, as Fremantle deserves to go in as favourite.

“You’d expect that to be the case. You look at their home record, you look at our interstate record and I’d expect that.

“We’ve been doing things that are against the run and that’s why we’ve been in that situation. I reckon that’s a credit to our boys that against the odds they’ve been able to come up and find a way to win.

“The other thing which Joel (Bowden) mentioned and one of the really important things, is that they are listening. As match committee and coaching staff, we’ve tried to put some tools in place to get a couple of results and these guys have really taken that on board.

“After the Sydney game we really took it back to the bones and had a look at what we doing and since then we’ve been able to come out with two against-the-odds victories, which is really pleasing.”

Fremantle will need to be on their game if they don’t want to become the Tigers third major scalp in consecutive weeks.

Happy if they don't rate us. Let them disrespect the Tiges at their own peril  :gotigers.
