Tigers’ burning question: Can Richmond keep their forward half humming?

With Damien Hardwick in charge between rounds 1-10 this season, Richmond were ranked the worst team in the AFL for scores per entry inside 50. The Tigers were battling to adjust without Tom Lynch in attack, after he broke his foot in Round 4. They were also ranked 12th for deep entries into attack. But now under Andrew McQualter, the Tigers are competition leaders for both scores per entry and deep entries in a dramatic turnaround. And they’ll need to keep that trend going if they want to remain in finals contention. Fox Footy’s Leigh Montagna believes the Tigers have simply slowed down, and it’s given them better access going into attack. “It looks like they’ve slowed down a little bit … sometimes they play a bit too helter-skelter Richmond and they don’t quite finish their work,” he explained. “They are able to score – get some stoppages and score an extra goal a game from stoppages and it’s helping their defence.”
