So do you think they'll bring anyone off the rookie list for Cogs?

Who comes in for him? Do they give Rodan the spot and see if he can stamp himself as a midfielder, do they give Humm a go, or a kid, like White?

they will only bring a kid off the rookie list if he is good enough, but white is the sure replacement 4 cogs, rodan isnt skillfull enough and even though his lil legs motor on like fred flinstone, he is too slow, foley is quicker than rodan

We've already promoted Humm when Thursfield went on the long term injury list. That leaves Howat and Angus Graham. Graham is too raw and not ready. Howat has been playing alright at Coburg but I can't see him getting promoted if humm cannot get a game.

Just a day after finding out his season was over, Richmond midfielder Mark Coughlan has accepted his fate and is already concentrating on recovering from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, according to his manager Paul Connors.

While understandably flat after becoming the second player on the weekend to join the growing list of ACL victims this season, which also includes teammate Will Thursfield, Coughlan had come to terms with his season-ending injury by Monday afternoon.

"His spirits went from very flat to 'OK, I've got to deal with this'," said Connors of his client, who was due to have a knee reconstruction at Vimy House in Melbourne on Monday evening.

"He slipped into from really flat yesterday to 'OK, I've got to attack this. I'm booked in, this is what I've got to do. Let's get it done and let's get into it'."

"So he went from feeling sorry for himself pretty much into work mode."

However, the Coughlan camp was aware of the hard work still ahead of the star Tiger.

"I think he's dealt with it pretty quickly (but it) doesn't mean there's not going to be flat periods to come, but I think just at the moment he's got an operation to get over."

The loss of Coughlan, who was restricted to just six games in 2004 by osteitis pubis, is a tremendous blow to the Tigers midfield, especially as it comes just a fortnight after the 2003 Jack Dyer Medallist collected a personal season-best 35 possessions against Fremantle.

Coughlan, one of the Tigers' best players in close, is a key member of the Richmond midfield and is the club's third leading ball-winner this season, averaging 22 touches a game prior to Sunday's clash with Hawthorn.

From the Herald-Sun:

Mark Stevens

Coughlan had surgery yesterday after suffering a ruptured ACL in the early stages of the Tigers' loss to Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium on Sunday.

Richmond coach Terry Wallace last night said Coughlan's knee was ``fairly clean'', confirming he had escaped damage to surrounding ligaments.

``The best case would have him training by Christmas and there is a chance we could have him back for the start of next year, but it is too early to know for sure,'' Wallace said.

Coughlan returned to the ground after suffering the original injury, but Wallace said there was no problem with the way the medical staff handled the midfielder.

``It is an injury where you've either done it or you haven't. It's not like he's half-done it the first time and come back on and done it fully,'' Wallace said.

rodan isnt skillfull enough and even though his lil legs motor on like fred flinstone, he is too slow, foley is quicker than rodan

Rodan seems to run backwards 20 metres when he gets the ball, before turning and heading the right direction.

so true, rodan has no sense of direction and poor decision making

once again, as much as everyone bags krak, he does not have these issues, he has a footy brain, he is a footballer , not an athlete!

rodan is neither

We just need to learn to cope without him. It would be interesting to see who puts his hand up for a gig in the middle.

This was posted on the Yahoo Tiger Talk site about Cogs and Thursfield:

Quote from: TT
Spoke to Mark's mum today and she said that the op was done at this afternoon and the doctor said it was a very clean recon and he can be back in full training early in the new year and should resume end of April. Even
though Cogs hurt is knee some 2 months after Thursfield, his [Will's] damage was so bad that Cogs will heal much quicker than Will. The doctor said that Will's was the worst one he had seen.

Hopefully that's a good sign for Cogs but it doesn't sound too good for Will  :(.

So do you think they'll bring anyone off the rookie list for Cogs?

Bringing up a rookie onto the senior list also means extra expense to the Club so they would only do it if the rookie had shown good form at Coburg or as X said we think he is good enough to make it. Graham is too raw and is playing Coburg ressies while Howat hasn't done much. It was a bit of a surprise that we promoted Humm so soon after Thursty did his knee. We seem to have only done it so Humm could play against his old club as he's been banished ever since.
