Club Corner - July 3
« on: July 04, 2006, 02:09:52 AM »
Paul Armstrong

* Newy - very similar operation to Browny's. Browny had bine fragments as his leg shattered a bit but not near that with Newy so a cleaner break.

* Disappointing as he's a very good player and loves being a Tiger. No one outside Richmond took much notice of him until he starred in the IR series last year.

* Chris as he was coming off and his family heard the comments by certain Pie supporters bagging him but Armstrong said there's always a idiot minority.

* Razor wasn't dropped. He had some injury concerns during the week and didn't come up. Krak was planned to come in midweek.

* Richo and the match committee are confident he'll be right by the end of the week and train and mark freely.

* Harts has a broken foot. We initially thought it'll be only 5 weeks but it'll take longer than that. Hope to get him back before the end of the season but that's unlikely.

* Harts and Newman live together so both getting injured on the same weekend was a quirk of fate. Both have their families in Melbourne so they will be well looked after.

* We want to play this week against Port with the same determined mindset as yesterday.

Jay Schulz interview

* Relatively pleased with how he played. Mindset to keep the ball in the forward given the weather. Terry was happy with his and the forward lines pressure.

* Win was built on getting numbers around and to the ball.

* Terry hopes down the years Schulz will be able to play at either end. If he's up one end, he can be  swung to the other.

* If Richo comes back against Port, Terry said to Sarge if he did what we asked of him against the Pies he will play deep and Richo will run around further up the ground.

* A very big month for us coming up. If we can come out of it 50/50 then playing finals is still a do-able thing with the last 6 weeks mainly at the MCG.

*  Port game very important. Port has a young side too. Very quick. If we can match them 1-on-1 then we believe we can win.

* We've been the underdogs most of the year because when we have been favourites like against Hawthorn we stuffed it up and people write us off again. On our day, if we come to play, we can beat anyone.

* Sarge said he still gets bagged from opposition supporters about the TAC incident but not from direct opponents.

* Doesn't care what weather conditions we get over in Adelaide. We can play well in dry and wet.

Other interviews

They also replayed aftergame interviews with Browny talking about Newman and himself regaining more confidence, speed and agility. Browny mentioned that Sugar said to the boys straight after the game that it was a good win and hope they all learnt their lesson from getting ahead of themselves against Hawthorn. We can't have these up and down results.

They also played snippets from Wallace's interview yesterday morning (see audio thread) where he said Newman was in quite good spirits and definitely in better spirits than Browny was at the same time.  Also said comments from Pie supporters coming off the ground calling Newman weak were disappointing.

Finally they had Paul Shelton on from Coburg. Coburg have got Willy this week on Sunday, 2pm at Coburg City Oval.
