Club Corner - July 10
« on: July 10, 2006, 11:31:28 PM »
Paul Armstrong

* Gone from Cambo, Graham, Staff, Chaffey to a younger group. All about improvement of our youngsters.

* Selection committee wasn't satisfied Richo was fit on Wednesday but came through in Adelaide.

* Hall (abductor strain) and Knobel (pesky jarred ankle) - both will be back this week (presumably at Coburg).

* More injuries we have at Richmond affects Coburg. Poor first quarter with the wind was costly.

* Coburg play Tassie at Aurora Stadium this week. Squad should be stronger.

* Richmond training tomorrow (a light one with just a 6 day break), wednesday is a required day then final session and team meeting on Thursday.

Darren Gaspar

* First Tiger to play 200 games coming from another club.

* Backline has been a good mix the past few weeks - himsefl, Joel, Kellaway, Raines, Paddy and Lids  dropping back down there.

* Wasn't keen on playing seconds but he was coming back from a bad hammy and he and the coaching staff wanted to get his fitness back up at Coburg.

* Need now to take the next step. Next few weeks we'll see where we're at against sides above us on the ladder.

* Breaking hoodoos breaks recent history formlines. So that's important.

* Wallace a great organiser and people manager. Helps him alot.

* A number of young guys (Lids, Tambo, Meyer, Polo, Raines) coming through and delivering makes a massive difference. We haven't had that before.

* Been working on controlling the tempo of a game as the season has gone along. The Sydney game was a huge help even though we got smashed. It's not just about going backwards and sideways but still putting pressure on the opposition.

* The Dees are in red hot form so Friday night will be a good test for our guys who haven't played much on the big stage.

* List is stronger and our depth is growing as the young guys come through so that's why we've improved.

Nathan Foley

* Got plenty of opportunity on th weekend coming off the bench and it was good to get a fair bit of the ball.

* Win on the weekend was built on our attitude and being hard at the footy.

* Enjoying his footy (although you always want to play better than you are). Terry wants to develop damaging , goalkicking and hard running midfielders. He wants to become that.

* First 2 games this year he was picking up possiessions but having little impact in terms of assists and also made a few clangers with his disposal. Went back to Coburg in round 3  then back into the seniors the following week and has worked on cleaner disposal and being more damaging and having more impact on a game. Played every game since.

* We're a young side and there's a great feeling within the group and alot of confidence. We just want to keep on improving and going out to win each game.

Here's something freaky.
I had dinner with Nathan and Rainsey at the Playerlink function earlier in the year.
Now, both have had fantastic form this year.
Coincidence?  :rollin
I think not  :lol
