Finishing 9th or 10th
« on: July 24, 2006, 01:51:46 PM »
In the past it has been well known that its a no no, as your team doesnt play finals and doesnt get the best young kids in the draft but as the season becomes closer to the end it appears more than likely our beloved team will finish in either of these positions.

Because no teams will be entitled to a priority draft pick this year in the first round which means to finish 10th you will receive pick 6 and if you finish 9th you will get pick 7. Are these seriously bad picks? What pick did J-O-N go last year?

I realise that it would be ideal to get atleast a top 3 draft pick but with this year being so different is it as bad as we fear?

There's no I in team, but there is 5 i's in Individual Brilliance.

id rather us try making the finals, if we dont and we finish 9th then so be it. Finals are the ultimate goal and if we are to blood youngsters into a winning culture then we have to start now.

IMO theres not much difference between 5 and 30 this year. Having top 3 draft picks doesnt nessasarily equate to getting a better player for the future as we know champions have come from all parts of the draft so i cant see the fuss between us getting 1,2,3 as opposed to 7,8,9.

Try to make the finals is the number one aim.
But when it becomes mathematically impossible to make the eight, start tanking and playing the kids.  If we win by playing the kids, that's a bonus i reckon.

I want us to try and make the finals although after Saturday night that's gonna be bloody difficult now :'(

But we should give it our best shot and see what happens - it'd be great to get there if only for a week.

Actually it'd be nice to make it through and face the Pies in week 1, win and then I don't give a rats what happens after that :rollin

Totally agree Moi. If we lose this week then it's all over for the year and we should play the kids.
