We were having a whinge on New Year's Eve how hot it was here - and i think it was around about 44 - over in California rose to near 52 deg
CALIFORNIA has sweltered under record-breaking, 50-plus temperatures again, pushing up the heat-related death toll and straining the state's power grid.
With temperatures soaring as high as 51.6C in parts of the state since Sunday, about 50 deaths have been blamed on the heat, but the actual death toll remained uncertain.

I have an Aussie mate who works in LA. He's moving back to Melbourne with his wife in October so he'll cop two summers back to back. Before he lived in LA he spent a year in Chicago which can reach -20 degrees when you include the wind-chill.
