Tezza on SEN - Monday 21/8

Hot August Night – didn't say it, but i reckon he might get out his leathers lol

How does he rate the season - 10 wins 10 losses?  We’re not going to make the finals so it’s not a good season.  Every team should aim to make them.  We are improving. We’ve equaled last year with 10 wins.  Last season we played more seniors like Cambo, Graham – this year, more younger players, so we’re still making advances.  Providing that your graph is heading in an upward trend, you’re in a reasonable position.  Stigma about 9th – as long as you’re heading in the right direction, nothing wrong with finishing 9th.

Kids – injuries to Brown, Newman, Cogs allowed us to open a few spots.  Foley was outstanding yesterday when the game needed to be won, his clearances out of the middle were exceptional.  Cam Howat had a great 3 or 4 weeks at a senior level.   Foley – when you have a look at his stature, you wouldn’t give him a go, but he’s got natural football ability and just needed an oppoprtunity and given a chance.

Less flooding lately – once you get to this stage of the year and most final berths are locked away, teams are just going at it.  They don’t see purpose of flooding to pinch a game.  We might as well find out what we’ve got how far away we are from the better sides.

If you were coaching an Adelaide or if you’re coaching a WCE, you play just a freeflowing natural style like the Brisbane Lions played for years, because you know you’ve got your best team and don’t have to play tricks.  If you’re undermanned or a young squad, we are not going to get this game unless we do something to put them off their game.

Adelaide – would you be worried if he was Neil Craig – the whole things is about momentum and they’ve lost it but they can get it back.  Reason for concern, but not reason to panic.  Freo were going bad a few weeks ago, now they’re flying.  Depends on momentum who will win premiership.  Changes quickly and very difficult to say.

Andrew Raines on winning Rising Star – not his judgment call.  Andrew has had a better season than Brett Deledio last year, but that doesn’t say where other kids are going.  Andrew will almost certainly finish in the top three in our B&F.

Asked who’ll win it?  At this moment in time he believes Rainsey will win it (quite emphatically stated as well).

Will he go into the centre in the next couple of weeks?  No.  He only played 7 games prior to this year and you can try and get too advanced with kids.  Until he gets to 50 or 60 games under his belt – let him settle and play good footy the way that he’s playing at the moment and don’t try and tip up the applecart.

Come on Moi what else did Tezza say about young Andrew Raines .... ????

He also said that at the moment Rainesy would be in our top 3 in our B&F and actually would probably win it - that's how good his season has been.

Is Tezza's chq in the Mail  :rollin

Life is just too good to be true at the moment for one young man - might be a tough one to get the B&F, but if he won it, I don't think too many could argue with it.
PS: Those going to the locker room tomorrow night might have a special treat ;)
Which has thrown my planning right out the window because i wasn't going - might change my mind though lol

Thanks for the top report Moi  :cheers. Simmo's been ditched by Terry as B&F favourite ;D

Funny how Rainesy has to wait 50-60 games before getting his shot in the midfield whereas Foley and Polo went straight in there. Give him a go Terry  :thumbsup.

Browny hopefully will be back to his best next year but Newy and possibly Cogs will take another 12 months to get fully right. By 2008 we'll hopefully have everyone up and running and by then another 22 games under our youngsters belts and approaching 50-60 games.
