My firewall that comes with my windows xp slows down my computer

What will be a better one firewall I can download and use for free?

others will be even slower.
try zone alarm pro but as i said,t will be marginally slower.
Thats the principle of a firewall - to check out things before giving clearance.
Maybe ur settings r too strict,

Do yourself a favour, get all firewall software off your PC and buy yourself a hardware firewall. They are very cheap these days and create no load issues on your PC. In my profession I work with firewalls every day and even the cheap ones are pretty good. 3Com, DLink & Linksys are the picks. They are actually called firewall routers. Even good ADSL modems these days have firewalls in them which do the Job. If you modem has no firewalling, buy one of the badboys above and put your adsl modem into bridge mode and all the pppoe authentication is handled by the firewall/router.
