Do Not Call Register
« on: May 25, 2007, 08:56:11 AM »
Has anyone else registered their phone number on this register so that you stop getting all of those phone calls from overseas call centres?

I only registered a week ago and the site stated that it would take up to 30 days for it to take effect.

Just wondering if anyone else done it when it was first released and if so did it work?

For those who are unfamiliar with this site, here is the webpage

https://www.donotcall.gov.au/

From what i have read you will still get calls from some local charity's etc but it is meant to stop all of those crappy phone centres.

From the website:

Exempt organisations include charities, religious organisations and registered political parties. You can also still receive calls from market researchers.

I think I'd rather receive a phone call from a telemarketer about a beach holiday giveaway in the middle of June than have to listen to god botherers.

It seems to be working!!!!

Everyday when i got home from work there would always be atleast 6 missed calls from private numbers.

Then i would also get atleast 2-3 maybe even 4 a night.

Over the last week i have hardly had one  :thumbsup :thumbsup
