Richo confounded by head-over-ball rule
« on: April 02, 2007, 03:21:46 AM »
From the Herald-Sun

Richmond forward Matthew Richardson said last night he continued to be confounded by the new head-over-the-ball rule, after he was penalised for a head clash with Carlton defender Bret Thornton.

"I went a bit blurry and when I came to, the ball was cleared and I realised he got a free kick," he said.

"I thought both players went at the ball and there was a clash of heads, so how he picked out who the free kick was, (I don't know)."

Poor Richo.  Umpires must just hate him.  Seemed totally unfair.  Especially as McGuane got reported for something similiar (soft report).
