It's probably the right thing, this season is a write off anyway, and I think clubs were sensing his weakness and honing in on him.

Agree DC. Get it done and out the way so Deano is fully recovered and right to go by the time preseason starts without any interruptions. The Pies did this in 2005 when their year was shot. Put all their players carrying injuries in for surgery during the second half of the season and played the kids = tanked.

No great surprise it "popped out" again in Perth - it's been happening all season.

Confirmed. Polo to go under the knife this weekend.

But it wasn't all smiles down at Punt Rd with news that Dean Polo's 2007 campaign is over.

Polo was a late withdrawal from the game and will have a reconstruction on his troublesome shoulder.

"He's a long-term player to us and was starting to do more damage to the shoulder so in fairness to the kid it was time to get him in (for an operation)," Wallace said.

The promising young midfielder has a serious shoulder injury, which will be operated on at the weekend.

probably is for the best. Hasn't been that impressive this year and it would be best for him to get his body right

Youngster Dean Polo was sent for season-ending shoulder surgery before the match, after a third dislocation this year. He was replaced by Greg Tivendale.

Richmond football manager Paul Armstrong said the surgery had been brought forward so Polo would be right for a full pre-season.

"His shoulder was very loose and it got to the stage where if he tackled, there was a possibility that it would pop out again," Armstrong said.

"That's a five-month recovery, which means, hopefully, he'll be fresh and ready by the start of the pre-season."
