I must admit I don't understand Hutchison's role at the Club. I'm not sure why we have a Director of Football in Miller as well as a Football Manager in Hutchison. From the outside looking in it looks like we are doubling up in that area as other clubs don't have two people. For instance Balmey is sole footy manager at the Pies (then again they want to introduce a new role there for Eade don't they).
It is an interesting situation. They way I look at it is Greg Miller runs the footy department - overseas everything but has big role in recruiting not only coaches
but players as well. We all know that Greg Miller spends a lot of time watching juniors etc as part of his role. He doesn't have a presence in the coaches box on match where as a Footy Operation Manager does. I think that Miller probably plays a bigger role in contract negotiations rather than the Club's CEO. At most Clubs the CEO does the contract negotiations.
I believe Greg Hutchison role is similar to Balmey's in that his is job is footy operations. This would include being in the coaches box on match days, the day to day running of the footy department (costs, co-ordinating player appearances and media comittements etc) and I don't think there is great involvement in recruting.
