Summary
* Dwayne Russell had a bet with Terry that if he came on the show, 10 Tiger supporters would hear him and will sign up they day after if they haven't signed up yet. He'll buy the memberships himself if they if they don't.
* Russell wanted to know if Terry was still around (hadn't burnt his tongue on the solarium etc) as he's been quiet. Terry said 3aw already has David King to give Richmond info. When you finished 16th you need to put your head down and do the work. There's nothing to talk about and we've just got to get on rectifying what happened last year.
* Tony Shaw said preseason was a better time for the assistant coaches to take the spotlight. Even players get sick of hearing the coach as they hear him often enough during the season. Terry agreed both on and off the track. Everyone jokes about statements like everyone's flying, stronger, faster etc. Gets to the stage at this time of year as to what more do you say. Get sick of saying the same lines vebatim. Better off taking a back seat.
* Where are we at? Are we behind the eight ball due to what happened last year with injuries?
Terry said not really. If we can get back a fit and healthy Brown, Simmo and Cogs. All 3 are on the training track working towards round 1 and we're expecting them to be fit and at their best to play by then. Then there's a natural improvement in the maturity of the group. We do expect the demands of guys like Lids and Tambo in their 4th year to step up. They're ready to deliver. They're stronger and more mature with development. There's natural improvement there.
* Cotchin - will be a little bit held back as he broke his ankle in the U18 PF. So He hasn't really been on the track much at this stage. Unfortunate but you don't worry about that as he's a 10 year player. Only 17 and could be still playing U18. We'll work him and when he's ready to go he'll play.
* Rance - Far more developed from a maturity point of view. We would like to see him in the NAB Cup at some stage whether that's the first round or later on we'll wait and see.
* Putt - Still young and developing. More someone promising for the future.
* As far as ruckmen we'll be going with more a Angus Graham and of course with Simmo coming back. We also want to have a look at Cartledge so he'll probably play in the NAB Cup as well.
* Russell asked if Terry would you rather win the NAB Cup or the season opener?
Terry said season opener. It's a given. NAB Cup is a practice match series. We'll still be fielding our best available side at the time but we'll still be practising what we want to be doing round 1. With the new NAB Cup 8 on the bench rules we won't be using two of them. With the rotation you can't do it. You can't use those extra players with the limit of 16 changes per quarter.
* No issue with the AFL trialing rules but not sure why you want to change. Was a great year for footy last year (not for Richmond and our supporters of course). Bench restrictions would make it difficult for veteran players like Robert Harvey to play on.
* Round 1 NAB cup - Simmo, Browny will play. Cogs a week or two after that.
* Russell and Shaw said after Terry was gone that we won't make the Eight.
