Plough wouldn't say if Richo will be playing up the ground again. The first time you can surprise the opposition as they don't have a week to prepare for it.

Joel's no certainty to come back into the side. Will weigh things up.

On SEN, Plough gave his reasons for dropping players last week. All 4 dropped had 0 tackles against Collingwood so whether you're a debutant or 200 gamer if you're not going to compete to the level required then you won't get a game.

Just checked the stats from the Pies game and Tivs, Joel, Thursty and Browny had 0 tackles so Terry was half right. 

Back on Richo, Wallace said Eade will have time to think about what he'll do if Richo plays on the wing and what he'll do if we move Richo forward. Plough also said Richo may be paying for a Allies jumper on a wing rather than as a forward so to me that says Richo will remain on the wing.

RICHMOND coach Terry Wallace says veteran Joel Bowden is no certainty to return to the team that beat Fremantle by 64 points.

Wallace said the final decision would rest with the match committee but that Bowden was starting to regain confidence playing for Coburg in the VFL.

"He played very well at VFL level and needed to do that," Wallace said. "Joel was lacking in a bit of confidence. He wasn’t playing good football. Sometimes going back to a lower level gets your confidence up and you’re not second-guessing yourself.

"He wasn’t the only one, we omitted three players from the side last week. Of the four that didn’t play last weekend, all four had zero tackles in the game against Collingwood."

Wallace said Bowden’s form had been an issue since before the home and away season.

"You guys look at it after three weeks, we look at it from seven or eight weeks in the lead-up practice matches and NAB series along the way and Joel hadn’t been in good form," he said.

"If blokes want to compete and play at the levels we think they should, they will play senior footy. If they don’t want to compete, it doesn’t matter if it’s a first-gamer or a 200-gamer, we need that in our line-up.

"I don’t ever go public on what we’re doing in relation to selection. We’ll discuss who did what at senior level, [and Bowden] was certainly in the better players at VFL level."

The Tigers coach said media criticism of the team leading up to the match was unwarranted and manufactured.

"I don’t have any hesitation saying the biggest change from a media perspective in the last five years is that five years ago the media wrote about the stories coming out of football," he said. "Now I think the media create the stories.

"If the media believe they can put pressure on somebody to put pressure on a club they will do that because it makes greater stories for them.

"I think they’re creating the story. They’re not waiting for the story to happen. Personally I think there is [something wrong with it]. I think it takes it a step too far but that’s the industry we’re in. It’s not going to stop rolling on. It’s a massive change."

Bowden's team-mate Graham Polak, who will reach 100 AFL games against the undefeated Dogs, said Wallace's hardline approach had already paid dividends.

"It's always a bit surprising when a quality player like Joel goes down and plays down there," Polak said.

"But, we had guys who came into the team ready to have a crack at it. As you saw on the weekend they put their body on the line and showed that they are capable of playing at this level."

"They really stood up for us and they got the win which was great."

Captain Kane Johnson and Nathan Foley have been named in the Victorian squad, while reigning Richmond best and fairest winner Matthew Richardson has been selected in the Dream Team squad.

Tigers coach Terry Wallace said he hoped all three of his players could play in the match.

“I was really pleased they were picked. I think Matthew has been involved in all the promotion in the lead up to it, so he was always going to be part of the squad,” Wallace said.

“For the Victorians to have Kane Johnson ... Kane’s had an outstanding start to the season. Obviously he missed that second game through his own suspension, but he has had an outstanding start to the year and really deserves his spot.

“The Victorian side could do a lot worse than have Nathan Foley in there. He’s a very exciting player and a real rising star of the competition. I think playing alongside some of the real names of the competition and it is up to the selectors.”

Richardson will find it hard to get a spot up forward, with Lance Franklin, Nick Riewoldt, Cameron Mooney and Matthew Pavlich all available, but may be an option on the wing after excelling there in Sunday’s win over Fremantle.

“He took on the job ... all Matthew wants now in the later part of his career is to get some sort of success. He has played in poor sides too often over his career. He is prepared to play wherever it is going to help the side do well,” Wallace said.

“Maybe he could get a spot on the wing.”

Wallace said the main reason for Richardson’s move up the ground was to try out new forward options.

 “It was actually about offering opportunities to others within the structure of the club,” he said.

“It was more about seeing where we were for the future, people questioned whether we had key position players that would be able to hold up for the future. I believed we had them there but hadn’t been able to get an opportunity with Matthew being the key focus point in our forward structure.”

Browny didn't lay a tackle against Freo either. The only game Browny tackles was against North . Thursty, Hyde, Schulz, Polak and Richo didn't register a tackle either on Sunday. I guess Richo didn't have to as no one from Freo would man him up lol.

I heard we only made 20 odd tackles overall. I guess it helps being first to the footy.
Brown is very poor as a defensive forward IMO. Always has been but he's got away with it because of his skill.

Yep just 24 tackles and only 6 Tigers had more than 1 but we were winning the ball the whole game so we didn't need to.

You're right about Browny Magic. He's only averaged 1 tackle per game his whole career as the opposition always paid more attention to him rather than Browny having to watch his man. He's going to have to lift now as teams these days run off unaccountable forwards.
