Lids on a mission today (re: Griffen)
« on: April 20, 2008, 05:17:01 PM »
It felt like today Lids was on a mission to prove himself up against what Griffen did today. I think he would've enjoyed that tackle on Griffen that resulted in holding the ball in the last quarter.

Absolutely awesome game from Lids  :bow :bow :bow

Still think that Dreamtime game and the match last year against the Pies when he kicked 5 were better. But in this game what I loved was how everything clicked into place. His game had everything. Provided us with great run, won contested ball (absolutely loved it late in the 3rd when laid off a beaut handball to Richie while being tackled), very impressive defensive side to his game and kicked goals. That running goal early in the 4th was brilliant. Lids is really starting to step up and I hope before years end he can get himself into the elite category of AFL players.

BTW, hope Blingers is on a mission to prove himself against Buddy and all his critics next week :thumbsup

He was good, i just hate when he is waisted too long deep in attack. He needs to be in the play more to utilise his speed and disposal.

Thought his almost non chase on Griffen (when Simmonds muffed the Lids handball) was disappointing. He need to chase hard and he seemed to be going at half pace.

He is getting better at part of his game but still has a ways to go.

Having said the above I reckon defensively it was one his best games. Just lets himself down with sort of thing I mentioned above

Griffen did some telling things in the last quarter, helped them get back into the game in the dying minutes.
Lids was the winner on the day
