Looking forward
« on: April 20, 2008, 11:17:35 PM »
During one of the breaks today (I think it may have been 1/2 time) we were talking about how good it was to see the Tigers stay in the contest even when they got 20 points down.

Didn't drop their heads kept fighting..especially when you think how young we were today.

Take out the old coots Richo, Johnson and Brown and I think you'll find Newman, Hyde and King were the next oldest.

But I digrese...

Today we got a real good look at some of our future... Lids, Tambling, Edwards, White, Foley, Thursfield, Riewoldt etc

Then having watched Coburg yesterday and seen Cotchin, Putt, Rance running around I got to see a little bit more.

Have to say I look forward to the day when we are able to rotate Foley, Lids, Tambling, Edwards and Cotchin through the mid-field... :thumbsup

If we keep playing like we've done in the past 2 weeks, we've got a lot to look forward to.

Keep Pettifer out of the team.

It's funny isn't it, all of a sudden the player development seems to be working. The kids all look exciting, there was a lot of niggle out there and we don't look too small anymore.

We are the 4th heaviest scoring team so far this season, behind the 3 unbeaten teams.

Yeah, next big loss and the knives will be out again for Whitey, McGuane or Schulz...

White and McGaune should rightly have their spots in question.

Whilst I like them both, there are more talented players kids to yet come into the team; Cotchin, Connors, Rance types.

That said I like the way they both go about it, I'd keep of them in the side ahead of Hyde.

Agree that we will have an even better side when you include some of the young talent developing at Coburg. Having said that there is no rush to drop anyone from the side who has played over the last couple of weeks. Mitch and Jack were the two that were really sticking their hands up for inclusion at AFL level and they are now in. Best to keep the momentum going without the need to disappoint any of the young players. The right people will naturally make their way into the team in good time, when they are ready there will be no stopping them. Cotchin is the next I expect to see in the Yellow and Black and he's got a few weeks until he's ready. Cass, Connors and Rance could come in but they have some work to do.

We kicked 20 goals 3 times straight towards the end of 2006 but that was against the 3 bottom sides (Carl, Ess and Bris). The impressive part of the past 2 weeks is the 20 goals have come against a quality side like the doggies on their home turf and the other was giving a Perth side a hiding on their own turf.

Forgot Casserly - always like watching Cass. His disposal by foot is so impressive. Looking forward to seeing if he can do it at the next level :thumbsup

Hopefully Cass' luck with injuries eventually changes like it did for Kel. It took Moore about 3-4 years for his body to stop breaking down with soft tissue injuries (touchwood).
