XP or Vista
« on: June 23, 2007, 11:50:56 AM »
For all of the computer buffs out there, which OS is the one to go with?

Just bought myself a new computer which is going to run like the wind, now i can either install XP on it as i am running on this PC or the new Windows Vista.

What are people's thoughts and experience's?

I have heard of a lot of people trying Vista and going back to XP.

Any comments are welcome.

Cheers,

Bully

There was already a thread on this - MT can  you merge?

I haven't used my Vista much because the computer I've got it on is not connected to the net.

If I got a new set up, I'd probably use the old XP and wait another year to use Vista, because I'm not sure how many program are compatible with it yet.

Yep you asked about it in a thread about browsers but apart from "LMAO Vista" from Ox  lol no one gave a definite answer. So I'll leave this thread separate as people might be more aware now of Vista's pros and cons to compare with XP  :).

I got a mac so i never updated from xp to vista.

If i hadn't gotten the mac i still would have stayed with xp for several reasons
all my software is compatible with xp and I couldnt be bothered
finding the versions i need,downloading them,re-installing them.bla blah

Put simply, from what i can gather,Vista is a poor attempt at repackaging the windows
platform so it was more comparable with Mac os x....they failed.

Way too many issues on vista and hardly worth the BS for a more sophisicated appearance.

so,yeah
LMAO@ Vista

No more footy videos on PC  ;)
Had this PC built to my specs.
Be interesting to see if it runs better without all the crap that goes with brand PCs
Certainly fast and got lots of space - actually too much space, cos if I ever fill this lot I need to get a life lol

Famous last words lol. I did the same thing with my old PC and got some guy in Camberwell to put it together. 8 years later it's still going albeit with Windows 98.

For anyone that is running Vista, what program(s) are you using to back up your dvd's??

The old ones i used to use dont seem to like Vista very much.

I'm using DVD shrink still on my old computer
I couldn't work out how to use it when I put it on new PC.
Must admit, didn't try hard to find out either lol
