Summary

* Saturday's game?
Very poor 3rd quarter. Let ourselves down. Back to old habits. Very disappointing. Terry said to the team though to keep their heads up as there'll be good time ahead. We didn't play as well as the previous 3 weeks.

* What old habits?
We slowed down. We didn't run it out of the backline, using the angles and carrying the footy. Okay early. Also defenders went to ground too easily. Some onballers didn't push back into defence enough.

* Where have the Tigers improved this year?
We've got some more games under the belt of the players we knew could play. Give 'em more confidence to take the opposition on. Around the packs we are doing okay even to a losing ruck on the weekend we're okay in the clearances. So improved in that area. We're using the footy better. Putting McMahon and Morton into the side has helped. Greg thinks it's just natural improvement with guys getting more games under their belt.

* Trent Cotchin - star of the future?
Arrived early at 'G dressed in his Coburg gear. 10.40am he got the phone call from Terry. Terry's been thinking about it for the while. Terry saw the rain so called the rooms at the 'G and said get Trent off and into the grandstand. He saw his parents, had a sandwich and a banana and got ready for the main game.

Mick McGuane said that's a sign of the kid's composure. The ability to collect his thoughts and play admirably given it wasn't the ideal preparation. Miller said true but it also didn't give him time to get nervous. He didn't have to sleep on it. Greg thought Trent handled it very well - first kick was a goal, 16 quality possessions, should have had 3 goals. Pretty good effort.

* Cogs - summary?
OP for 1-2 years post his 2003 B&F. He was leading our B&F again 2 years back before doing his knee. Last year hurt the knee again so missed another year. This year he played in our early practice matches and said the knee was feeling pretty good but unfortuantely developed some hamstring injuries on the opposite leg higher up in the hamstring. It's gone 3 times on him and so had 9 weeks out of footy. Played that one game against Collingwood but pulled up sore at training last Tuesday. We really couldn't go through the same method in his rehabilitation so weighed up the options. Thought it appropraite to try something new. So we sent him over to Munich. He's had his first lot of treatment on Sunday. The doctor there will be travelling with Bayern Munich (soccer team) so only had 4-5 days to rush him over there.

They inject fluid into the hammy. Parrot's blood? A lot more to it though. Stretching routines etc. Our chief rehab coordinator Warren Kofoed over there too so he can bring the methods back to the club with him. We've regularly consulted our old club doctor Chris Bradshaw who's now at Geelong. It's a method Bradshaw saw used on soccer players while over in England as Fulham's club doctor. He suggested it to Max Rooke.

Cogs will be over in Germany for 12 days. Then a 5 week rehab program. We still hope he comes back and plays this year.

* Other injuries
Simmo who wasn't at his best on the weekend copped a knock to his PCL. Minor injury. We're all clear.
Rainesy who'll be a couple of weeks away is our only main injury concern.

* Joel Bowden - happy with his game?
Yeah first up in the role he was okay. Kicked a couple of goals. He's taken on board the changing role as you'd expect from Joel. Thought he was good.

* Dreamtime game?
Great spectacle. Bombers have a few indigenous players. JON who was the one pushing for selection has broken his arm. We'll still have Tambling playing though.

Not sure.  I posted last week that he could do with a couple of weeks being the bully in the 2's and his game v Geelong did nothing to change my mind.  He is going to make it but just now, for his development, I think he could do with a couple of weeks back at Coburg.

Could be a slip of the tongue by Miller not mentioning Edwards.

Simmo did it in the state game  :-\. He had a knee bandage on at training midweek.
