Blow for Tigers rookie Dean Putt
Herald-Sun | September 19, 2008
UP-and-coming Richmond ruckman Dean Putt is nursing a fat lip this week after being punched while watching a Victorian country football final last Saturday.
The 202cm Putt was allegedly set upon by two Riddell players during a large off-field brawl in the last quarter of the Riddell District Football League preliminary final, between his old club Woodend-Heskett and Riddell.
The pair jumped the fence to join the melee and allegedly attacked Putt, 19, and his father. Two Riddell players received one-match suspended sentences for running from the field during the brawl.
RDFL operations manager Steve Turner said the players were found not to have participated in the fight and were dealt with by the tribunal.
"Two players left the ground and were reported for doing so, which resulted in a minor misconduct charge," Mr Turner said.
