Jacob 'Jake' King (born 26 March 1984) is an Australian rules football player for the Richmond Football Club. He is one of the shortest players in the AFL but is known for his strength and quickness.

King previously played for North Heidelberg in the Diamond Valley League and was recruited from the Coburg Tigers in the VFL. He was picked up by Richmond on their rookie list prior to the start of the 2007 AFL season. Before King was drafted by Richmond he did a pre-season with Essendon.

King is an explosive defender who often provides run and carry from the tiger defense. His speed was fully displayed at the 2007 AFL Grand Final Sprint, which he won. When interviewed he expressed his surprise in the post race interviews by saying "I thought [Port Adelaide's Nathan] Krakouer would poo it in". Jake King is one of the best players in the AFL according to Gary Ablett Jr he said that if anybody could beat him it was Jake King he claims he gets nervous when they play Richmond because of Jake King. Ablett's father Gary Ablett Snr who is highly regarded as one of the greatest of all time also claims that King is the best player he has ever seen. When asked how Jake King compares to some of the greats like himself, Billy Brownless and Dermott Brereton, Ablett's reply was " Jake King sh!ts it in".

After playing every game since round 4 in the 2007 AFL season, he was promoted to the Richmond Tiger's senior list for the 2008 season. He kicked his first goal against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium in Round 9.

Jake King received 4 votes in the Brownlow Medal for 2008 for stand out performances early in the season. There was much dispute between AFL legends such as Leigh Matthews, Nathan Buckley and Robert Dipierdeminico who all expressed their disgust that Jake King was not awarded the coveted medal. The winner Adam Cooney in his post-ceremony interview said that if he could he would give his medal to King.

Personal Life
In his spare time Jake enjoys going on Facebook and playing Mario Kart. He is also well known in the AFL community for his accomplishments as a skillful cook. His speciality is minestrone soup. TV personality and chef Gordon Ramsay stated in an interview for New Idea magazine that Jake King was his inspiration and childhood hero.
