Newy was just on 3aw

He was asked by Healy and Russell where we need to improve to jump a couple of spots up the ladder in 2009. Newy stated 3 areas:

i) Coming together and gelling as a team. As a young group we've played together now for the last 2-3 years and the more we do that the more we will improve. He believed this started to show in the way we finished off the year and were able to match it with the better sides.

ii) Our kicking/skills.

iii) Our defensive pressure.

* Newy was asked if he had a girlfriend and after a laugh he said he has.

* Process - we had a vote. A sheet of paper was given to each player with 3 options - who they wanted captain, how to structure of the leadership group (1 or 2 vice captains), and who they wanted in the leadership group. Board and coaches also had their input into the decision.

* Pleasing and humbling to be voted captain by everyone at the club.

* Newy thanked Sugar for everything he's done. Sugar's leadership has set us up to go on now, as have the other older leaders over the last few years.
