Jack Riewoldt - 2009 expectations?
« on: January 26, 2009, 10:16:18 PM »
High expectations on Jack this year to step up a further level up forward along with Cleve and Mitch.

What are your expectations for Jack Riewoldt this year and what would be a good return from him?

Something like 20 games, 13.9 disposals, 5.2 marks, 2.5 tackles, 32.15 would be an ideal result for Jack.

We need our 2006 1st round draft pick to step up a notch.

I think he's capable but am not completely sold yet.

2009 will give some insight as to just how good JR is going to end up being.

This will be Jack's 3rd season

It took cousin Nick 4 seasons to produce good numbers. On that same thought Bradshaw hit his straps in season 4, Pav also in his 4th, Fevola in his 5th, Chad Cornes (who I see Jack being most like) his 3rd to get some good numbers but fully in stride in his 4th

Jack just needs to keep learning and put on more size. Anything he does this year is just the stepping stone to much bigger things 2010 onwards

Continued improvement for mine.

I like Mr Magic's precise stats and they sound pretty good to me for the 2009 return for young Jack.

Would also like to see him dominate a game or two.

Still not sold on young Jack, I like his enthusiasm, but don't think he'll ever be a true KPP
Needs to hope he has a very big tank because his speed will never be a strength so he'll have to rely on smarts and stamina instead

Jack needs to at least challenge Richo in contested marks, kick 30-40 goals and become a match up that the opposition needs to sit and ponder for a while. Like our mid field, Jack needs to be able to draw away heat on days that are not going his way so that others can shine

Jack to aim to play every game barring injury and kick 30+ goals. Also for him to play with more consistency as young players can be up and down from week to week.

With another preseason behind him hopefully his endurance is improving for a forward and like a number of our forwards he can lalso improve his defensive side of the game to remain in the contest and keep the ball inside our forward line.

Based on Sunday's game Jack would have himself locked in at CHF. He's coming along very nicely and looks like he'll have another significant step-up this year. 2-3 goals per game would put him the 50-60 goal category.
