Rate a Tiger's year - 16. Luke McGuane?
« on: September 28, 2009, 04:50:35 PM »
McGuane played all 22 games this year for a total of 54 in his career since making his debut in 2006 (drafted pick 36, 2004). Luke had three 20+ disposal games - both Bulldog games and against the Eagles at the Dome. However in the final ten rounds of the season he had 5 games with 10 or less possessions.

I rated McGuane behind Moore and Thursty at the start of the year.

He definitely had the best year out of that trio....just hope he can bulk up a bit.

Steadily improving, not only fit enough to play all 22 games this year but also seems confident enough to run up field to break the lines.
Disposal has improved since his OP issues also, but still needs to get better in this area.

I like him, but still only gave a 7.

Easily our best defender this year and one of our only shinning lights for the year. Played the game tough and is the only player on our list who looks like they have a bit of (you know what) in him.
Well done Luke. 8 out of 10 for mine.  :clapping
Just keep improving.....

Our best defender. Not that it's saying much.

7/10 for Luke.

Maybe I'm harsh and probably (over-)expected more this year after his 2008 but I gave Lukey 5/10. A mixture of the very good and the ordinary. No doubt he was our best tall defender this year but I think that says more about Moore and Thursty (first half of year) going backwards rather than Lukey improving significantly. It's hard to give a decent mark to any of our defenders after we leaked like a sieve this year  :P.

Lukey needs to bulk up and show abit more discipline as well as more consistency with his kicking. Has a stroke of white line fever which I love. I gave him a 5/10.
